picrews (and other such dollmakers)
Please god let this work.
welcome to my twisted dollmaker collection. every maker on this page has a subpage of its own with a couple of example pictures, a list of its tags, and some bullets clarifying special tags (their checkboxes are marked with a *) plus any notes that seemed relevant. opening in new tabs is recommended buuut optional
tags are sorted within groups; they activate as OR within the group (checking "✓fullbody ✓bust" will give you results from both tags) but AND between groups (if you then checked "✓unnatural hair", you would see only picrews tagged fullbody or bust with unnatural hair). this is not a perfect solution to the issue of tagging, which would probably be ideal with an explicit "exclude" function, but i literally had not ever touched javascript until a week ago and it took most of that week to figure out how to make isotope function at ALL, like, copypasting out of the box code, so we're going with imperfection for now.
tags marked with a * will be clarified in a bullet on the maker's page (e.g. makers with "unnatural hair" tag will have the specific colors available listed)

tag directory: in detail
explanations of all the tags, if some don't make sense
- body size: full body shows down to ankles or more, half body shows thighs and up, bust shows torso and up
- subject: the main customizable subject of the maker. "human" is self-explanatory, "anthro" is for makers that only have furry-type bases, "animal" is for animals, "location" is for 'decorate a room' type makers and "other" covers everything else
- skin tone: exact number of swatches will always be specified on page. if the dark skin range is shitty or the skintones are generally ashy we will also note this; would like to make a tag for dark skin friendly/unfriendly but again still don't know how to do explicit exclusion filters
- body types: number of available body types will always be specified if there is more than one. "slim" and "fat" are pretty self-explanatory and we're trying to be lenient about efforts to include the latter; "chubby" is kind of a "you tried" star unfortunately. might phase out?
- gender slant: based on "traditional" gendered characteristics, unfortunately. mostly present because some makers do NOT give you a choice about making a woman with an hourglass figure breasting boobily through the picrew.me trending tab and it feels reasonable to at least point this out. sometimes there are breast options, which will be noted
- hair colors: fairly self explanatory. number of swatches will always be specified, unnatural swatches will be listed individually, we will note if there is red hair that is neither GARFIELD ORANGE nor FIRE ENGINE RED (weirdly difficult to find)
- hair textures: also pretty easy to get. the line between wavy and curly is admittedly kind of vague but we have reductively and arrogantly decided that we can judge this
- skin details: of all the tags the OR applies to, this might be the least fortunate and i am SORRY. anything tagged will have specifics noted if applicable (number of swatches, location on face/body, how many can be applied at once, some makers only have vitiligo as full skin swatches for some reason?)
